The star has given the full amount of his £25,000 award prize money to the trust for venues, which operates to save the Britain's small concert spaces.

He was given the prize on mid-October as his third album his work was chosen as the top album of the previous year.

The musician has decided to donate the funds to the Music Venues Trust, in recognition of the crucial part grassroots venues had in his initial steps.

"I personally would not have achieved what I am doing today if it weren't for all the gigs I did around the region, and further afield, when I was just getting going," stated the artist. "These locations are legendary, but they are struggling."

Since the start of 2023, more than 150 of these spaces have ceased operations – about 16% of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, top acts like Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all supported the Music Venues Trust in its efforts to keep the scene afloat, by adding a modest fee to their ticket costs, which benefits smaller concert halls.

Sam Fender also joined in, collecting more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to assist numerous small stages across Britain.

The donation helped venues that were facing possible closure due to difficulties caused by water damage, blazes and bereavements, as well as permit problems, legal disputes and noise complaints.

Additional spaces obtained financial assistance in modernizing facilities and technical equipment that helped artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that revenue from concerts in major spaces supports the independent spots, where it kicks off for musicians like me, is just sensible," Fender has stated.

The musician is far from the only musician to contribute his honor prize money to charitable organizations.

Back when they earned the award in 1996 for their album the album, frontman Cocker stated that the band would give their cash to the non-profit War Child.

That year, artist she split her bounty between multiple good causes, like the children's charity and a charity for Sickle Cell.

"Additionally, I gave a thousand pounds to the center, to their gymnastics class, because I practiced gymnastics when I was a child and they needed updated gear," the artist told outlets.

Previously, Ezra Collective gave their winnings to the local youth club that developed their act, as well as other local music groups.

Additionally 1994 winners the group contributed their prize to a charity for MS after a friend was found to have the condition.

"The victory was sufficient," remarked singer the singer. "The money was the cherry on top but we didn't require the bonus, because we had the main prize. So our success impacted somebody else's life."

In the past week, the MVT announced it had saved several local spots in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

The Joiners in the city and The Croft in that location were purchased under the public acquisition scheme, which is backed by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
